Life of Holy Prophet ﷺ in Madinah

1st Year


  • A mosque was to be build where muslims learnt and practiced discipline, unity, and brotherhood after the arrival of Holy Prophet ﷺ.
  • The land for the mosque was bought by two orphans.
  • The Holy Prophet ﷺ worked hard with his companions to complete the building. This mosque was known as the "Mosque of Prophet" or"Masjid-e-Nabawi".
  • Azan was introduced, as suggested by Hazrat Umar.
  • The muezzin was Hazrat Bilal.
  • Those who had migrated from Makkah to Madinah were known as Muhajirin.
  • Those who belonged to Madinah and had given shelter to the emigrants and helped them were known as Ansar or the Helpers.
  • Holy Prophet ﷺ told the Ansar that the Muhajirin needed help.
  • Ansars took the Muhajirin to their houses, treated them with hospitality and shared all the possessions with them.
  • There were three main tribes of Jews: Banu Qainuqa, Banu Nazir, and Banu Quraiza, settled in the suburbs of Madinah in their own strong fortresses.
  • An agreement reached which granted equal rights to the Jews.
  • With full liberty to follow their own faith without and interference by the Holy Prophet ﷺ or his followers.
  • The treaty also established the Holy Prophet ﷺ as the leader and the heat of the state of Madinah.
  • He came to be recognized as the ruler, judge, and commander of people in Madinah.
  • There were some who did not like the success of Holy Prophet's ﷺ mission.
  • Known as "Hypocrites" or Munafiqeen who attempted to cause harm to the Muslims.
  • There lead was Abdullah bi Ubbay who build a mosque outside Madinah.

2nd Year

  • The month of Ramzan was made obligatory upon all adult Muslims in the second year.
  • The payment of Zakat was also made obligatory upon all rich Muslims.
  • In 2 A.H while the Asr prayers in the mosque, Holy Prophet ﷺ was ordered to pray facing ka'abah.

  • The Battle of Badr take place in Safar 2 A.H.
  • Muslims were 313 men only with 2 horses and few camels.
  • Quraish came with huge quantity of food supplies, with best warriors and arms and large number of horses, Camels, and men.
  • 70 Quraish were killed, 70 taken as prisoners, 14 Muslims killed, 6 Muhajirin and 8 Ansar.
  • After the battle many non-believers accepted Islam.
  • In 2nd Hijri, the tribe of Banu Qainuqa brake the agreement between the Muslims.

3rd Year

  • Quraish camped at the foot of a hill know as "Uhad".
  • The Prophet ﷺ advanced towards Uhad with his thousand companions.
  • Abdullah bin Ubbay deserted with 300 of his men.
  • fifty archers were ordered to defend the mountain.
  • While the Muslims were collecting possessions left by the Quraish, the archers thought that they are no longer to be on their places, so the left their place and only few were left.
  • The Quraish noticed and attacked from the undefended rare part of the mountain.
  • All the archers were killed, and Holy Prophet ﷺ was injured in the battle, and the Muslims lost the battle..

4th Year

  • The Banu Nazir tribe of the Jews planned to murder the Prophet ﷺ.
  • The Prophet ﷺ sent them a message to leave Madinah within ten days.
  • After a siege of two weeks, the Jews sundered.

5th Year

  • Some other tribes agreed full support against Muslims. When the news came to Muslims that kafir are coming Holy Prophet consulted his companions.
  • Hazrat Salman Farsi advised to dig a trench by 3000 peoples.
  • When kafir came and saw the trench so the can't move on.
  • Allah finished them with heavy rains and different things, Muslims won the battle known as "battle of Trench".

6th Year

  • The Treaty of Hudaibiyah proved to be beneficial for having free contacts with the Muslims.
  • Closely Study the Islamic way of life and the success achieved by the Holy Prophet ﷺ and his followers.

7th Year

  • Holy Prophet ﷺ decided to send the message of Islam to the Kings and Emperors.
  • Holy Prophet made an agreement with the Jewish tribes.
  • A campaign of slander organized against Islam and the followers.
  • The Battle of Badr, they did not help the Muslims according to the treaty signed.
  • Ka'ab the leader of the Jews propagated against Muslims and maintained secret communication with Abu Sufyan.
  • 3 main tribes fought with the Muslims in the periods between the Battles of Badr and Uhad.

8th Year

  • Holy Prophet ﷺ sent a message to the Roman Emperor.
  • The Messenger was killed at Mutah, Muslims under command of Khalid bin Waleed defeated the enemy.
  • The Holy Prophet ﷺ left Madinah on the 10th of Ramzan 8 A.H, with an army which by the time he reached Makkah.
  • Holy Prophet ﷺ divided his army into 4 groups, gave instructions that no blood should be happen, and he entered ka'abah.

9th Year

  • Roman Empire had organised huge army, Holy Prophet ﷺ made an appeal.
  • Hazrat Abu Bakr donated each and everything he had.
  • Holy Prophet ﷺ invited the people to accept that Allah is One and all should worship only him.

10th Year

  • 10th year of hijrat is called Am-ul-Wafd
  • On 4th day they reached the plain of Arafat.
  • This seem is not only remarkable for its eloquence.

11th Year

  • Holy Prophet ﷺ died at the age of 63.
  • Holy Prophet ﷺ was buried in  the apartment of Hazrat Aisha.
